DDM(Diaminodiphenylmethane)contains a mixture of 4,4-methylenedianiline(65-75%) and some polyamino-polyphenylmethane, and the structural formula is the same with MDA-100. It is an important chemical intermediate, which is mainly used as chain extender for polyurethane elastomer, curing agent for epoxy resin, floor paint, battery glue, electronic filling and sealing glue, heavy anticorrosion coating, especially suitable for pouring and sealing large parts with high cross-linking density and excellent performance.
Application
- Curing agent for epoxy resins
- Chain extender for polyurethane elastomer
- Key intermediate in:
Floor paints
Battery adhesives
Electronic potting compounds
Heavy anti corrosion coating
Especially suitable for pouring and sealing of large parts
Storage Precautions
Warehouse Storage
Storage area must be dry, ventilated and protected from light. Strictly avoid heat exposure to prevent oxidation.
Transportation
Leakage, sunlight exposure and rainwater contact are strictly prohibited.
Shelf Life
12 months under specified storage conditions. Products exceeding shelf life may be used after passing quality inspection.
Safety Precautions
UN No. : UN 2651
Hazard Code : 61809
General Description
A tan flake or lump solid with a faint fishlike odor. May be toxic by inhalation or ingestion, and may be irritating to skin. Insoluble in water.
Air & Water Reactions
Oxidizes slowly in air in a reaction catalyzed by light. Somewhat hygroscopic. Insoluble in water.
Reactivity Profile
DDM polymerizes if heated above 257° F. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. DDM is also incompatible with acids. Catalyzes isocyanate-alcohol and epoxide reactions. Flammable gaseous hydrogen may be generated in combination with strong reducing agents, such as hydrides.
Health Hazard
TOXIC; inhalation, ingestion or skin contact with material may cause severe injury or death. Contact with molten substance may cause severe burns to skin and eyes. Avoid any skin contact. Effects of contact or inhalation may be delayed. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may be corrosive and/or toxic and cause pollution.
Fire Hazard
Combustible material: may burn but does not ignite readily. When heated, vapors may form explosive mixtures with air: indoors, outdoors and sewers explosion hazards. Contact with metals may evolve flammable hydrogen gas. Containers may explode when heated. Runoff may pollute waterways. Substance may be transported in a molten form.
