Applying epoxy resin adhesive or performing repairs using a syringe is a delicate operation, suitable for mold repair, electronic packaging, and craft manufacturing. Proper operating procedures are crucial for ensuring both effectiveness and safety.
I. Pre-operation Preparation
Material Selection: Select a suitable two-component epoxy resin adhesive based on the material of the object being repaired, the size of the gap, and the operating environment (e.g., temperature and chemical resistance requirements).
Tool Preparation:
Two-component syringe (usually a dual-tube parallel structure containing pre-dispensed resin and hardener)
Matching mixing tube (static mixer) or flat-tipped needle
Cleaning cloth, anhydrous ethanol, and other cleaning supplies
Prepare clamps or positioning tools if necessary.
II. Operating Procedures
Installing the Syringe:
Take out the two-component epoxy resin syringe and screw on the matching mixing tube or needle.
Before first use, dispense a small amount of adhesive into the mixing tube outlet and allow the two components to mix thoroughly before starting the operation.
Surface Treatment:
Thoroughly clean the area to be repaired, removing oil, dust, and loose materials.
If necessary, roughening or activation treatment can be performed to enhance adhesion.
Dispensing Operation:
Aim the mixing tube outlet at the gap or dispensing location to be filled.
Push the syringe plunger at a steady speed to continuously and evenly fill the gap with adhesive, being careful to avoid introducing air bubbles too quickly.
For deep or complex gaps, a segmented injection method can be used.
Finishing and Curing:
After injection, gently smooth the adhesive surface with a scraper or wet finger.
Let it cure at the recommended temperature. Generally, room temperature curing requires more than 24 hours; please refer to the product instructions for specific times.
Avoid moving or touching the applied area during curing.
III. Important Precautions
Ventilation and Protection: The operating environment should be well-ventilated. Wearing gloves and safety goggles is recommended.
Mix Uniformity: Using a mixing tube ensures sufficient reaction of the two components; if the mixing tube is reused, monitor for blockage.
Adhesive Active Period: The mixed adhesive should be used within its pot life to prevent curing failure.
Tool Cleaning: Uncured adhesive can be cleaned promptly with a specialized cleaning agent; cured adhesive must be removed mechanically.
Waste Disposal: Used mixing tubes, needles, etc., should be disposed of according to chemical waste regulations.
Through standardized preparation, meticulous operation, and proper follow-up treatment, the bonding, sealing, or encapsulating functions of epoxy resin can be fully utilized. For critical components or large-scale operations, it is recommended to conduct sample testing first.
